I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter 372/1900, and in reply to state for the information of the Secretary of State, that, so far as I know, I rejoined under the new rules which Agreement was in force when I signed my agreement in July 1882 and have since then been under amended Pension Regulations framed from time to time. These rules only applied to men joining the Force after the date of publication in the Government Gazette.

I believe the rules were generally understood to apply to those who joined after the publication.

I have verted men's agreements and resignation agreement as full belief in pension after ten years' Service, irrespective of age, still holds good, but the Government should decide otherwise.

I have the option to return to the Service of my own free will if health permits.
